Privacy Policy

This explains what Circuits.com collects, why we collect it, who else can see it, and how to get it corrected or deleted.

1. Who We Are

Circuits.com operates this directory. Where this policy says “we”, it means Circuits.com.

For anything in this policy, including a request to see, correct, export or delete your data, use our contact form and say what you are asking for. We aim to respond within 30 days.

2. The Short Version

• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show advertising.
• Company listings and profiles are public by design. That is the point of a directory.
• Files you upload (logos and documents) are stored publicly and can be opened by anyone with the link. Do not upload anything confidential.
• Analytics cookies only load if you agree. You can change your mind at any time.
• Buyers can search and contact companies without creating an account.
• Recruiting is free. A job you post is public. A resume you post is shown on the Recruit Board without your name, and your name, contact details and resume file are shown only to people who are signed in. You can take it down at any time.

3. What We Collect

If You Create an Account

• Your email address, and the username that becomes your Circuits.com address.
• Your password. This is stored as a cryptographic hash by our database provider. We never see or store the password itself and cannot recover it for you.
• A display name, if you give one.

If You List a Company

Whatever you enter on the listing form and in your portal, which may include: company name, contact person, email, phone number, website, postal address, year founded, employee count, keywords, description, opening hours, social profile links, certifications, team member names, roles, photos and email addresses, gallery images, logo, and any documents you upload.

If You Send a Quote Request

Your name, email address, company, phone number, subject, message, and any quantity or part number you provide. This is shown to the company you sent it to, and to Circuits.com staff.

If You Leave a Review

Your name, email address, star rating and review text. Reviews are read by Circuits.com staff before publication. If published, your name and review are public; your email address is not.

If You Post a Resume

Whatever you fill in under Search Jobs: the job you are seeking, your location, years of experience, a statement, certifications and degrees, up to ten Circuits-Keywords™, a contact email, a phone number, and a resume as a PDF. While you have switched on List Me on the Talent Board, the job you are seeking, your location, years, statement, certifications and keywords appear on the Talent Board to anyone. Your name, contact email, phone number and resume file are shown only to people signed in to a Circuits.com account, and the resume is served through a link that expires after fifteen minutes. Switch the listing off and none of it is shown; remove the resume and the file is deleted from storage.

If You Post a Job

The job title, location, years of experience, description, keywords and any files you attach, together with your company name and logo. Once Circuits.com approves the post it is public on the Job Board for thirty days per approval, and search engines may index it.

If You Apply to a Job

Your application carries a link to your Circuits.com profile and any note you add. It is shown to the company that posted the job and to Circuits.com staff, and the company is emailed that it arrived. We keep a record that you applied so the same job cannot be applied to twice.

Notifications

Notices about your account, listings, jobs and applications appear under the bell at the top of every page, with the date and time each arrived, and a copy of most of them is emailed to your sign-in address. Notices are kept while your account exists; you can delete any of them.

Keeping Bots Out

Creating an account, signing in with a username, resetting a password, sending us a contact message and requesting access to a listing each include a check by Cloudflare Turnstile that you are a person. Cloudflare sees the network address and browser details of whoever completes it and gives us only a pass or fail; it sets no cookie of ours. The result is not stored with your message or account.

If You Claim a Listing

Your name, email address, your role at the company, and whatever evidence you give us to show the listing is yours.

When Anyone Views a Company Profile

We count profile views, and clicks on a company’s website, phone, email, documents and quote button, so the company can see whether their listing is working. Each record holds the company, the type of action, the keyword you arrived from, and the time.

If you accept analytics, we also store a random identifier in your browser so repeat visits from the same browser count as one visitor rather than several. That identifier is not linked to your name, email or account. If you decline, we still count the view but store no identifier with it.

Staff Actions

We keep a record of decisions that grant access or affect money: approving a listing, changing a price, connecting an account to a company. Each entry holds the staff or account email, what changed, and when. This record cannot be edited or deleted, including by us. It exists so those decisions can be audited.

What People Search For

We record every search: the words typed, how many listings matched, and when. We do not record who searched: no name, no account, no IP address, nothing that ties a search back to a person or to any other search. It is kept as a running tally so we can see which keywords the industry looks for and which ones we cannot yet answer, which is how we decide who to approach about listing. Because there is no identifier attached, a search cannot be traced to you even by us.

Telling Us What You Need

If a search finds nobody and you ask us to let you know when a supplier lists, we store the keyword, your email address, and anything you type in the notes box. That is used to email you about that keyword and to understand demand. We do not sell it, and we do not add you to a marketing list. Ask us and we will delete it.

4. What Is Public

Please assume the following is visible to anyone on the internet, including search engines:

• Your company listing and everything on it.
• Your profile at circuits.com/yourname.
• Logos, images and documents you upload. These are served from public storage, so anyone holding the file’s address can open it, whether or not your listing is live.
• Published reviews, with the reviewer’s name.
• Approved job posts on the Job Board, including attachments.
• The Talent Board entry described above, minus your name, contact details and resume, which need a sign-in.

Quote requests, job applications, unpublished reviews, claim submissions, contact messages and your account email are not public.

5. Why We Collect It

• To run the directory: so buyers can find companies and contact them.
• To operate your account: signing in, resetting a password, showing you your listing.
• To pass on quote requests to the company you chose.
• To moderate: checking reviews, claims and job posts before they take effect.
• To run the Job Board and Talent Board: showing posts and resumes to the people they are meant for and passing applications to the company that posted the job.
• To report performance to the company paying for a listing.
• To keep the site secure and to audit decisions that affect access or billing.

Where the law requires a legal basis, ours is the contract with you for a listing or account, our legitimate interest in running and securing a directory, and your consent for analytics cookies.

6. Who Else Sees It

We do not sell personal information. We use these providers to run the site, and they only handle your data to provide their service to us:

• Supabase: database, sign-in, file storage, and the functions that send our email.
• GitHub Pages: hosts the website itself, including every script it runs.
• Resend: delivers our email, such as notices, listing acknowledgements, contact messages and access requests. It handles the address and the message text in order to deliver it.
• Cloudflare Turnstile: the bot check on the forms named in section 3.
• FormSubmit: used only to copy us on replies in quote threads. The quote form is switched off, so nothing currently goes through it.
• Google Analytics: visitor statistics. Only loaded if you accept analytics cookies.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the site and its users from fraud, abuse or a security threat.

7. Cookies and Browser Storage

We keep this to a minimum.

Necessary, always on. Your sign-in session is stored in your browser so you stay signed in between pages. Your cookie choice is stored so we stop asking. Neither is used for tracking and the site cannot work without them.

Conveniences, in your browser only. The dashboard remembers which tab you had open, the results page remembers the profiles you saved, and a form you left half filled may keep its draft. These live in your browser’s own storage, never leave it, and are cleared when you clear site data.

Analytics, only with your consent. If you accept, Google Analytics loads and sets its own cookies, and we store the random visitor identifier described in section 3. If you decline, neither happens.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the necessary ones will sign you out and may stop parts of the site working.

8. How Long We Keep It

• Account and listing data: while your account exists. If a subscription lapses we keep your company data so the listing can be restored if you come back, rather than making you start again. Ask us and we will delete it.
• Quote requests and messages: kept so both sides have a record of the conversation.
• Resumes and Talent Board entries: until you remove them or delete your account. Removing the resume deletes the file.
• Job posts and applications: a post stays with your company until you delete it, and the applications to it stay with the post. Deleting your account deletes both.
• Contact messages and access requests: in our email and, for access requests, in the admin record until decided and then as history.
• Reviews: published reviews stay until removed under our policies or on request.
• Profile view statistics and search tallies: thirteen months, so a company can compare a month with the same month last year, then purged automatically.
• The staff action record: kept permanently. It is append-only by design and is what allows an access or billing decision to be audited later.

9. Your Rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is wrong.
• Delete it, subject to records we must keep.
• Give you a copy in a portable format.
• Stop using it for a particular purpose, or withdraw consent you previously gave.

If you have an account, you can already edit or delete most of your own profile and listing information yourself from the portal, without asking us.

If you are in the UK, EU or a US state with its own privacy law, those laws may give you additional rights, including the right to complain to your data protection regulator. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

10. Security

Access to data is enforced in the database itself, not only in the website, so a company can only reach its own listing, quote requests and reviews. Passwords are hashed. Uploads are limited by type and size. Resumes sit in private storage and are only ever handed out through short-lived links to signed-in accounts. Decisions affecting access or billing are logged to a record that cannot be altered.

No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach affecting your personal information, we will tell you and any regulator we are required to notify.

11. International Transfers

Circuits.com is operated from the United States and our providers may store or process data in the United States and elsewhere. If you are outside the United States, using the site involves your information being transferred there.

12. Children

Circuits.com is a business and professional directory and is not intended for children. You must be 18 or older to hold an account, list a company, post a job or post a resume. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will make that clear rather than relying on you noticing the date.
